The Pictures Of Eid Ul Fitr, Malaysian Style

This is penganan because in Negeri Sembilan, we call it penganan instead of dodol like other Malaysians identify it. This penganan or dodol is a kind of food which is sticky and it is highly recommended for the people who rely solely on their gum to churn food. Haha.

This is bahulu. This is the original way of baking bahulu because it uses wooden sticklike tree branch instead of modern way of bake it. How modern people bake bahulu? They use microwave oven so that it will reduce time to bake it. But,actually, the traditional way of baking the bahulu gives better taste compared to the modern style.

This is ketupat!! You have to eat them with kuah kacang, the one with brownish colour. Ketupat is made from rice, and you have to put the rice inside the “kelonsong” which is made from “daun palas”. Then, you have to boil the kelonsong which contains rice inside it.

This is lemang. To be specific, these are the bamboos that we used to make lemang. The white object at the corner there is not underwear but it is actually a rag use to clean the windows to prepare the house for eid ul fitr. Haha.

This is rendang daging!! Rendang daging is the food that we eat together with lemang. We can use beef, chicken, lamb and even duck as the main ingredient to make rendang.

Baby your are firework!! Common let your color burst!! Lalalala...

Haha. You know this Katy Perry’s song right? Usually, children play fireworks outside their house after performing terawih prayer at the mosque or surau or after takbir, the night before eid ul fitr. Usually, the girls will play fireworks while the boys will play firecrackers until their hand get injured and they ended celebrate their eid ul fitr with insufficient fingers. Haha. Actually, the men also play the firecrackers and also the meriam buluh. What is meriam buluh? Meriam buluh is actually a canon made from bamboos. They fill in the bamboos with sulphur and they will put on the fire to make explosion. Sometimes, they use iron pipe instead of bamboos so that the sound produced will be more awesome.

After performing eid ul fitr prayer, people will take advantage to visit their neighbour and relatives house. The children usually will get money just like angpow during Chinese New Year from the host. People also will share their stories and not to forget gossiping about so many things like politician scandals, our Harimau Muda’s team, profitable project after eid ul fitr, artist get divorced because their husband has affairs with some other women, or whether their children has getting married or not,  or whether the quality of the food served in previous house are delicious or not,and don’t forget,  the clothes for the eid ul fitr, where they bought them, how much they are, are they comfortable to be worn,  and etc. Haha. They will comment almost everything. Well, like we all know, Malaysians like to talk.

All in all, we as a Malaysian feel so grateful with the grace and the belssing from Allah so that we can enjoy the celebration of  Eid Ul Fitr in a peace and harmony atmosphere. We hope that our Muslim’s brothers and sisters especially in Palestine and other part of the world where Muslims are being oppressed, will have the same chance to celebrate this eid fitri like us.
